The method

How a manager becomes a coach in 90 days.

Not through a workshop they forget by Friday. Through a framework, a deck of cards in their pocket, weekly reps, and a scoreboard that shows whether it is working.

Why training fails

The problem was never the training day.

Leadership training is expensive, delivered as a fire hose, and largely gone within a month. People leave the room motivated and return to a job that never changes to support what they just learned.

What holds is what gets used. A principle applied in the next conversation, reinforced the following week, tracked against a goal someone actually cares about.

Capability held over twelve weeks Illustrative shape. With weekly reps, capability holds near the top of the scale through week 12. Training alone decays steeply within the first six weeks. 25%50%75%100% WEEK 0WEEK 6WEEK 12 CAPABILITY HELD CLEAR, with weekly reps Training alone
Reinforcement beats intensity. The reps are the product.

The framework

CLEAR is five questions, asked in order.

Every coaching conversation, every 90-day challenge and every rollout runs on the same five steps.

  1. Clarity

Establish one clear goal. Not a theme, not a value. A goal you could put on a scoreboard.

What does winning actually look like?
  2. Leverage

Find the root behaviour that drives the goal. Most teams are working on the wrong one.

Which behaviour moves this the most?
  3. Engagement

Build real commitment. A person who agreed under pressure has not committed.

Are you actually in on this?
  4. Accountability

Keep score. Track progress out loud, on a cadence, where both people can see it.

Are we winning or losing right now?
  5. Results

Celebrate what worked, learn from what did not, then reset and run it again.

What do we repeat, and what do we change?

Getting people unstuck

Five states, one conversation.

When someone is stuck, the instinct is to jump to solutions. CLEAR coaches walk them through five states in order.

  1. 01

    Current State

What are the actual facts, feelings and circumstances right now?

  2. 02

    Desired Future

What does success look like, described specifically enough to recognise?

  3. 03

    Stuck State

What is genuinely in the way, separated from what only feels like it is.

  4. 04

    Breakthrough

What are two or three prototypes worth trying, not one perfect answer?

  5. 05

    Freedom State

What CLEAR action gets taken now, by when, and how will we both know?

The 90 days

What a cohort actually does.

The Coaching Academy runs twelve weeks. Here is the shape of it, so nobody has to book a call to find out what they would be buying.

  1. Week 0

    Baseline and kickoff

Every leader completes the Coaching Capability Assessment. The cohort picks one business goal worth 90 days.

  2. Weeks 1–4

    Clarity and Leverage

Leaders run the first two steps with their own people. Weekly card, weekly rep, weekly check-in.

  3. Weeks 5–8

    Engagement and Accountability

The hard half. Commitment conversations, a visible scoreboard, and the follow-through most managers avoid.

  4. Weeks 9–12

    Results and report-out

Each leader presents what moved, what did not, and what they are changing.

  5. Day 90

    Re-measure

The same assessment, against the same baseline, next to whatever the business goal did.
